Message from Mental Health Complaints Commissioner, Treasure Jennings

The MHCC works with carers, consumers, their families, as well as public mental health services to resolve complaints about public mental health services in Victoria.
We also have a role in helping services to develop effective responses to complaints and to use information from complaints to inform service improvements. Every public mental health service is required under the Mental Health Act of 2014 to have a process for dealing with complaints. When accessing public mental health services, people should feel confident and supported to raise their concerns either directly with the service, or to the MHCC.
If you do contact my office, we will work with you on the best way to is to resolve the issue. We can also explain your rights if you’re unsure. Our approach is to resolve complaints in a way that supports the person's recovery but also looks at ways in which the service can be improved for you and others. Anyone can make a complaint and we can be contacted by phone, email or our website.
