Message from Maggie Toko, Assistant Commissioner, Lived Experience at the MHCC

Hi,
My name is Maggie Toko and I am the Assistant Commissioner, Lived Experience and Engagement at the Mental Health Complaints Commissioner. The term ‘Lived Experience’ is used by the MHCC in an inclusive way to refer to the experiences of people living with mental and emotional distress and those accessing mental health services, as well as the experiences of their families and carers. As someone who is passionate about the Lived Experience lens, my work means ensuring that the MHCC is driven by Lived Experience in all the work that we do.
My role is also to raise the voice of consumers and carers by engaging with them around issues that directly affect them when making complaints. I also, engage with clinical and community stakeholders by designing projects that directly respond to the rights of consumers and carers. Please feel free to contact the MHCC at 1800 246 054 or help@mhcc.vic.gov.au or access our website at mhcc.vic.gov.au should you have any questions or queries or should you wish to make a complaint.
