Hello, I’m Kaaren Dahl, and I am the Assistant Commissioner for the Resolution and Investigation of complaints at the MHCC.
I work with the staff who respond to complaints.
People contact our office by phone, email or by using our online form about their experiences or the experiences of family members, friends and people they care for.
We work with the person who has made the complaint, and the person who is using the service, and staff at the service to resolve their concerns. We are focused on resolving the person’s concerns, and on improvements to services and systems so that other people who use mental health services do not have similar experiences.
Our staff work with services to support them to improve the way they respond to complaints that are made directly to them, to assist people to make complaints about their experiences, and include them in resolution of their concerns.
We work hard to ensure the voices of people with Lived and Living Experience of mental illness and mental health issues are heard, they feel that their experience matters and their concerns are responded to.
