Who the Commission is, what powers we have, and what we do

Who we are

The Commission is an independent statutory body established under the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act, 2022. We hold the government to account for the performance, quality and safety of Victoria’s mental health and wellbeing system.

We promote, support and protect the rights of consumers, families, carers and supporters.

The Commission is led by Interim Commissioner Maggie Toko, with Chief Executive Officer Simon McKenzie overseeing the day-to-day administration and management of the organisation.
